REPORT FROM THE PRESIDENT
Last Sunday’s Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert was another memorable event. The performances were stunning! Thanks especially to our chairperson Donna Kline for putting together such a fine musical program. Also special thanks to Mariko Heenan our reception chair as well as volunteers Joan Weinstein, Chris Bradley, Judy Lichterman and Paul Agricola for their help behind the scenes. But most of all, thanks to our tremendous performers who volunteered their talents and all of you who bought tickets in order to help us raise funds for the music education of needy students in Marin County!
Everyone who attended last month’s Sylvia Jenkins Teachers Workshop is still talking about what a fabulous afternoon of repertoire sharing. The handouts alone were worth
the effort to attend! Ms. Jenkins brought a rich assortment of recommended editions. But as always, so much information and so little time! Many suggested we invite
Sylvia back next year for Part 2! A very special thanks to Hilary Thompson for her work as program coordinator!
CM: IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR THIS YEAR
This year the MTAC State CM Council is requiring teachers complete their Student Evaluation Forms ONLINE. (This is the online version of ‘white paper form’ where each teacher enters the syllabus and other pieces a student will play, as well as indicates whether the student wishes to apply for Branch Honors, Convention, Convention Panels etc.) This evaluation form will be available ONLY ONLINE for teachers to complete beginning January 2, 2007.
This new procedure will be a learning process for all of us! I will give you more information about how this procedure will work at a later date. This process should be just as easy as the CM Online Registration process! For those teachers with limited computer skills, you might want to work with your ‘computer buddy.’ And remember,
I will be there to help answer questions. You can contact me if you need a computer
buddy, don’t have access to a computer or are just plan lost!
If there are any teachers willing to help a fellow teacher or two by volunteering to BE a
computer buddy, let me know.
Remember, you MUST complete the registration of your students by November 15th, as there is NO LATE REGISTRATION. Earlier is better—then we can correct or solve problems that crop up. Please send me one check for the total fees due for all your students. The check should be made out to: MTAC-Marin, along with a copy of your Student List and your Student Fees List. Deadline for receipts of fees: November 20.
