MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome back to the new teaching year 2006-2007.  I hope you all had a very restful summer.

It has been two years since we launched our website at www.mtacmarin.org. This year we will continue to post our branch newsletters, the branch calendar of events, our membership list and student and festival recital forms

In the coming year we hope to implement a new web-based system from enrollment in our Branch Honors Recital for 2007. This project is in the development stages.  You will be notified as to our progress.  Meanwhile read the online newsletters every month!  This should be an exciting year for new and efficient ways of communication with our members.

It is essential I have all your correct email addresses.  Please be sure to contact me at jblegend@aol.com for any changes in this area.  For those of you not yet in the ‘internet age’, please be sure to give me the email address of the person you have designated as receiving your email.  This is very important since most of our branch business is now done online.

I hope you all have a very successful and satisfying music year!

DISCOVERY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Discovery Scholarship Program has room for 2-3 more students!  Please contact
Chris Bradley at 302-0296 MusicaMarin@pacbell.net ASAP!

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP BENEFIT CONCERT

Our Scholarship Benefit Concert will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday 5 November 2006 at United Methodist Church in Mill Valley. As you recall, our concert last year featured many exceptional performers in a program that was outstanding!  This year will be no exception. The proceeds support our M. B. Davis Memorial Competition and our Discovery Scholar Program (the former a merit and the latter hardship scholarship).  These outstanding programs are our way of supporting our most gifted as well as most needy students!

In order to boost branch membership support for these programs, you will receive in the mail a letter along with a group of tickets for the Benefit Concert.  We ask you to help by either purchasing these tickets yourselves as gifts or selling them to friends, family member or students and their families. If you are unable to attend, a donation for the purchase of these tickets would be greatly appreciated. The letter with the tickets will go out sometime in October.

For further information, please contact Donna Kline at 435-3017.  (In addition volunteers are needed in the areas of publicity and hospitality for this event.)
